About

I am an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Psychology, Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia. My research interest includes applying statistical and Machine Learning methods to generate valuable insights into social behaviors, mental health, Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and psychometric properties.

I hold a Master’s degree in Data Analytics from Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia, where I conducted my research project under the supervision of Jorge I. Vélez. Prior to that, I earned a BSc in Psychology from the same institution. My research experience includes investigating statistical and social phenomena as part of the Center for Research in Human Development (CIDHUM) at Universidad del Norte, and The Storymodelers research initiative.

Since 2023, I have been working on integrating different disciplinary perspectives to construct a comprehensive understanding of safety and security in hard-to-reach environments, using slums and informal settlements as case studies. Additionally, I have been involved in designing and validating surveys to measure these concepts effectively. Currently, I am focused on identifying common functional genetic variants that influence the age of onset in individuals with sporadic Alzheimer’s disease (AD), as well as variants that increase susceptibility or contribute to the progression of AD in the Colombian Caribbean region.

Please feel free to contact me by email. You can find my CV here.
